KBC Bank, the parent company of the Hungarian K&H Bank, provides banking services in 5 European countries.

The international IT solutions of the banking group, covering several European countries, takes place with Hungarian and Belgian colleagues in Hungary and Belgium, therefore not only our services are international, but also our teams.

Our responsibilities range from day-to-day operation to application development and its operation.

We are constantly expanding the Hungarian side of the team, which is why we are looking for enthusiastic, motivated new employees with junior, medior or possibly senior work experience.

Infrastructure as Code and fully automated systems are fundamental for our next generation KBC environment. With this vacancy you will join the team that is pioneering with these concepts and is leading the change towards software defined architectures. Right now dozens of manual Self Service Portal requests are needed to get access to standardized infrastructure services on premise. The desired state is that each standardized infrastructure service is obtainable by some versioned code declaration and fully automated in the creation, modification and deletion. It's our ambition to provide a common approach for achieving this and take all engineering teams along on this journey. Doing so we drive the move from a slowly evolving, rigid infrastructure environment, to a rapidly evolving and agile environment.

What the team is doing: 

• We are developing a service broker framework (own grown Python web application based on Flask, Celery)  which can be leveraged to offer infrastructure services via a common REST interface and with the concepts of infrastructure as code in mind.
• We are turning engineering teams into service brokers by automating and self-servicing their system operations via the above framework.
• We are introducing infrastructure as code and data driven operations in all the levels of the pipeline. From the infrastructure engineers in our datacenters up to the DevOps engineers that are building KBC’s well known applications such as KBC Mobile, KBC Touch, Kate, etc.
• We are implementing a central web application (skyline) that keeps a real-time skyline overview of everything that’s going on in the different service brokers. Doing so we are able to pinpoint potential problems with great detail.

 What your job will be:

• You will introduce new capabilities in the central brokering framework that is used as foundation for all active brokers. Focus will be on supporting broker to broker communications in the best possible way. Indeed a lot of end-2-end flows are depending on broker to broker communication, making this a very much requested feature.
• You will join the full journey of adding a new extra broker to the mesh network. This involves a lot of different challenges: develop understanding the infrastructure at hand for which the broker is being created, optimize the current workflows of obtaining assets for that resource and finally realize an automated and straight through implementation of that workflow.
• You will work on the skyline application by introducing new capabilities that bring data insights of the mesh network. Special focus will be on capturing data for broker to broker flows.
• You will work together with several senior software engineers in developing new features, improve existing functionality and resolving several known issues.
• We believe a lot in ‘on the job training’, so our ambition is to boost your skills and guide you along the way. However decent knowledge of Python, testing and code design patterns is a prerequisite for this vacancy.
